Energy Healing – for Real?

Energy healing is gaining a lot more acceptance now but it is hardly new. Did you know that there were energy healing devices sold in the 1902 Sears Roebuck catalog? In 1910 the Flexnor Report outlawed what passed for energy healing back then because it couldn’t be validate scientifically. Scientists who wanted to study the body’s energy fields had to gain tenure by studying more acceptable therapies so that they could pursue their real interests.

Fortunately there were scientists who believed in the biological energy fields and means have been developed to be able to measure them and study them. In 1960 Albert Szent-Gyorgi noted that “in every culture and in every medical tradition before outs, healing was accomplished by moving energy”.

Harold Saxton Burr was one pioneer who believed that changes in the bodies physiology showed up first in the body’s energy fields. One area that he looked at was ovulation. He showed that there were significant voltage changes during ovulation but other researchers of that time couldn’t duplicate his results. It wasn’t until 40 years later that scientists could figure out why. It turns out that the many organs in the body all produce their own electrical fields that all interfere with each other. Once the other fields were filtered out, Burr’s experiments could be duplicated.

Cancer was another condition that Burr investigated. He found that he could detect large voltage changes in the skin of mice from 10 days to 2 weeks before the tumors appeared. Again it would be decades before other scientists could verify is results, and they did. In the mid 80′s, researchers showed that electrical conductance is 6 to 7.5 times higher in tumors than in normal tissue while in later stages the electrical conductances drop as the tissues begin to deteriorate. The thing about this research is that it is more reliable in detecting cancers than self-palpation and mammograms. In traditional detection, lumps have to be surgically removed to verify their malignancy and since most lumps are benign, the energetic means of detecting real tumors provides assurance and is non-invasive.

As an aside, I have also heard a lot of good things about thermography being a very reliable, non-invasive way to detect tumors and other conditions that might otherwise go undetected.

So, to summarize, energetic means of detecting problems in the body have been around for a very long time, are non-invasive, and more reliable. The validation that was needed for these methods has finally been found during the past few decades as our ability to detect and measure the body’s energy fields has improved. The important thing for energy healers is that science is finally catching up and providing hard evidence for the skeptics.

  1. Healing crystals had also been quite famous now a days for energy healing, based on my experience I agree with Toni King energy healing is extremely powerful.

    Very interesting Wayne,
as an EFT user I have no doubt that energy healing is extremely powerful. It's great to see that validation is happening, it serves to bring awareness and empowerment to the masses. Thanks for sharing.
