Build a Relationship on Trust

Whatever game you are playing, you can best win by building a solid relationship based on trust. You hear that all the time from internet marketing people when they talk about how to monetize your list, but it really applies to just about everything.

I’m building a network marketing business on my own, at least from my upline’s perspective. They are all traditional network marketers, some of them very successful, and they don’t understand what I’m building online. They also don’t see all of the people from other companies that I have connected with online to learn how to do this, so I’m hardly doing this as a lone wolf. Anyway, I was thinking this morning about how I would explain my online success to them. What I realized is that what I’m doing is  really no different that what they are doing, whether they realize it or not.

It all comes down to building a trusting relationship with everyone you meet. Forget the companies, products, and compensation plans. When you come from a place of genuine interest in the person you are talking with you might end up with a new customer, new distributor, or maybe a new friend, and those are all good things to have. Your new contact might eventually become a combination of some or all of those things.

This applies to not just online or offline business, but all parts of life. I think that once people realize that building a trust relationship is what they are really after, the pressure to perform goes away and they can just be themselves, which makes it all a whole lot easier.

So, building an online network marketing business is really no different than building one offline. You are just looking in different places to make your connections.
